will be held in conjunction with Medical Quality 2010, the annual
meeting of the American College of Medical Quality and will include sessions on
quality.

and skills necessary to convey issues and evidence-based recommendations in
population health and prevention policy.

Describe innovative
approaches to public health issues and advances in public health programs.
-
Understand current
recommendations for assessing health risks and delivering effective, evidence

and pathways in both the public sector and private sector, and explain the
challenges and opportunities present in changing jobs and career focus
throughout the professional lifetime of a preventive medicine physician.

to the emerging 21st-century health care system from innovative and
effective “best practices” in interprofessional, interdisciplinary and

Meeting Tracks
Preventive Medicine
2010 will be featuring state-of-the-art educational sessions and skill
building institutes within three conference tracks:
-
Clinical
Preventive/Lifestyle Medicine: This track covers a wide range of topics in
evidence-based clinical prevention, including health promotion, early clinical
detection and case-finding, counseling and risk factor modification, and
intervention.
-
Public Health Practice:
This track encompasses innovations in population-based approaches to
preventing and controlling disease. Sessions on this track aim to emphasize
issues of public health significance.
-
Prevention Policy:
This track seeks to provide participants with an understanding of important
and emerging national policy issues of concern to preventive medicine
professionals, and to improve participants’ effectiveness in addressing policy
issues of concern in their own communities.
-
Career Development
Sub-Track: The Career Development Sub-Track provides medical students,
residents, and recent graduates the opportunity to learn about the breadth of
career opportunities offered in preventive medicine, occupational medicine,
and public health. Two conference sessions focus on gathering panelists from
both the public and private sectors into an open discussion with those looking
to understand the variety of career possibilities preventive medicine
provides. In addition, this track will facilitate an informal evening social
networking event allowing potential employers and recruiters to meet those
looking for job opportunities.
Who should attend?
ACPM members, physicians,
federal and local government employees, corporate medical directors, nurses,
residents, medical students, health plan managers, preventive medicine faculty,
and other decision makers from professional physician associations and the
public health field.
New conference information
and the latest updates will be added to the website as it becomes available, so
